Landlords in Cumbria offered chance to install central heating for free

Added on August 5th, 2016 in Property News

Landlords in Cumbria are being offered grants to install gas or oil fuelled central heating systems in their homes for free with a view to helping up to 250 households stay warm at home for less.

The Cumbria Central Heating Fund is an initiative funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change which is delivered by Allerdale Borough Council, Carlisle City Council, Eden District Council, South Lakeland District Council and npower.

The Central Heating Fund is limited and will be issued on a first come, first served basis and the property occupants will need to meet certain criteria to apply.

To qualify, the property must not already have a mains gas connection or an existing central heating system fuelled by oil or LPG.

If the property has a solid fuel back boiler with a partial central heating system (i.e. one or more rooms do not have radiators) or have storage heaters with manual charge controls, it may still qualify.

Landlords can also apply for help improving insulation in the homes, including 100% grants for cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.

If your property is suitable, the councils are also offering to insulate your walls, for free.
